   Corpus callosum

   Corona radiata

This is the most rostral and most sophisticated of the whole of the brain or the cerebrum.  It consists of four lobes which are external and two which are obscure.

The cortex is divided into six cytoarchitectonic  layers as follows.

Molecular layer (most external)

External granular layer

Internal granular layer

Fusiform (multiform) layer

These are used to construct the Brodmann areas of cortex.
