Cerebellum

The cerebellum is the large integrative and coordinating center for the control of posture.   It is usually divided into

(1)   Neocerebellum

(2)   Paleocerebellum

(3)   Archicerebelum.

Aside from this, it is divided, into 2 cerebellar hemispheres in the middle of which is the centrally placed vermis.

The cerebellar hemispheres are divided into lobes and the lobes are further divided into lobules by fissures.   They usually have both inferior and superior surfaces.

A transverse fissure divides the cerebellar hemisphere into superior and inferior and superior surfaces.

A transverse fissure divides the cerebellar hemisphere into superior and inferior lobes.   The superior lobe is further divided into lobules by primary fissure and posterior superior fissure.   The inferior lobe is divided into various lobules by the prepyramidal and posterolateral fissures
