Inheritance in all life forms can be divided into two types

Sometimes there is an intermediate type of inheritance in simple Mendelian inheritance.

Mendelian inheritance involves single genes as in sickle cell disease (s) or albinism (a). Multifactorial inheritance involves multiple genes with interplay of factors in the environment such as nutrition etc. and they include such characters like

  • Height

  • Weight

  • Intelligence

  • Blood pressure

  • Many congenital anomalies etc
