These are paired and they run from abdominal to reach the psoas muscle where they cross the genitofemoral nerve to reach the sacro-iliac joints and they bend medially, after crossing the (gonadal vessels to reach the base of the bladder.  It has 3 coats:

Outer coat (serosa) or peritoneum

Middle coat (muscle)

bullet

Inner coat (mucosa)

They are supplied by the following vessels:

Ureteric branch of superior vesical artery

bullet

Ureteric branch of renal artery

bullet

Ureteric branch of gonadal artery

bullet

Ureteric branch of common iliac artery.

Nerve supply is via the sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves.
