Also called membranous layer of superficial fascia it is the superficial fascia of the anterior abdominal wall which is elastic and membranous. It fuses with the deep fascia of thigh- fascia lata, at the line of the fold of the groin together with Scarpas' fascia and is continuous with the fascia of the perineum called Colles' fascia and also with the suspensory ligament of the penis in the male and the suspensory ligament of clitoris in the female, together with the dartos muscle of scrotum.
