DEEP TRANSVERSE METACARPAL LIGAMENTS

 

 

PROXIMAL ATTACHMENT: Interconnects the palmar ligaments of the 2nd to 5th metacarpophalangeal joints. Also interoconnects the dorsal ligaments of carpometacarpal joints

 

DISTAL ATTACHMENT: Base of corresponding phalanges.

FUNCTION: Keep the joints together with maximum stability unlike the separated distal (interphalangeal) joints of the individual digits.

JOINT: Metacarpophalangeal joints.
