SUBSCAPULAR ARTERY

 

ORIGIN:  Third part of axillary artery

COURSE/DISTRIBUTION: Part of scapular anastomosis. Runs in the medial edge of subscapularis and supplies the muscle and adjacent structures. It also supplies the posterior wall of axilla and scapula.

BRANCHES: Thoracodorsal and circumflex scapular arteries  which also take part in the scapular anastomosis.
